Congratulations to the G.O.A.T., Caitlin Clark!

Iowa Hawkeyes basketball star, Caitlin Clark set the NCAA women’s basketball scoring record, with her 3,528th career point last night against rival Michigan.  Fittingly, the shot that cemented her stature came just left of the mid-court logo.

Not only did she get the scoring record, but she also achieved the Iowa-program record of 49 points, with 13 assists – a double-double.

Clark is closing in on Pete Maravich’s men’s Division I record of 3,667 points. At her current pace of 32.7 points per game this season, Clark would need four more games to pass Maravich, potentially putting the record in sight on Iowa’s senior day against Ohio State on March 2 in the regular-season finale.

Now Clark — who could potentially return for a fifth season if she foregoes this year’s WNBA draft — has a chance to become the leading scorer in Division I basketball history, men’s or women’s.

Congrats to Coach VanDerVeer!!!!

Congratulations to the winningest coach in college basketball, Coach Tara VanDerVeer of Stanford.

Today, she and her Cardinals achieved her 1,203th win to top Mike Krzyzewski’s previous record.

In typical Coach VanDerVeer manner, she talked about her athletes

Not dwelling on her feat, VanDerveer shifted the attention to the talents of her players and their competition.

“I just love how our team battled,” she said after the game. “How about Kiki?” she said, calling out Kiki Iriafen, who had just scored 36 points — a career high.

Way to go, University of Tennessee!

I love this story…

An elementary school teacher in Florida posted that her school was having a college colors day. One of her students told her he wanted to wear a University of Tennessee tee but didn’t have one. They discussed that he could wear an orange shirt to show his spirit. He told her every day leading up to it that he had an orange shirt that he was going to wear. So when the day finally arrived, he was SO EXCITED to show the teacher his shirt.

He took it to the next level and drew a design and taped it to his tee. He was so proud of his tee but, after lunch, the teacher noticed he was crying. He said some girls at the lunch table next to his made fun of his homemade tee.

The teacher wanted to get the student his own Vols tee and posted her story to see if anyone had connections to the University of Tennessee.

Well…. word got back to UTenn and they went above and beyond! They sent him a whole pack of Vols gear — tees, bracelets, water bottles, foam fingers, and more!

They even converted the student’s design into a tee and are donating a portion of the proceeds to the STOMP Out Bullying campaign.

(The shirt is at www.utvolshop.com — search for SKU #09216 — but the web site is getting a LOT of traffic and might be down or really slow.)

Signature Designs

The John Hanson Middle School Band played a festival at Hershey Park.  They called it Trills and Thrills.

For this design, I dropped off a special template and a Sharpie.  After all the kids signed the template, I picked it up and turned it into a one-of-a-kind custom tee, complete with all their signatures!

These tees work best for smaller groups (under 100) and I’ve used them for graduating classes, band trips, and sports teams.

Dr. Brown Children’s Theatre Troope

Dr. Brown Elementary (http://www.ccboe.com/schools/brown) asked me to make tees for their Children’s Theatre Troope.  These royal blue tees were printed with 2 colors (white and yellow) and involved a fade in colors.

What do you think?

CSM School of Nursing

This year, College of Southern Maryland School of Nursing wanted a fresh design.  This is what we came up with… lol

These tees and hoodies were made with Port & Company’s Essential tee in purple. The design is F&M Expressions’ Vintage print for that “well-worn” feel of that old tee you love. It’s just like traditional screen printing, only softer.

CSM School of Nursing Fund Raiser

The College of Southern Maryland’s School of Nursing asked me to make shirts for a fund raiser.  I made short- and long-sleeve tees, as well as hoodies, in athletic gray and black.

The more items they sold, the more money I donated.  They sold over 100 items and raised more than $760!

Great job, Future Nurses of America!

2017 TSHS Car Show

The 2017 Thomas Stone High School Car Show will be held rain or shine (hopefully, the latter!) on Saturday, May 6.  I made some “Registration” and “Judge” tees:

Thomas Stone Cougars

I was a little busy with Thomas Stone High School this year… first, I made some performance tees for Physical Education. Then, I made 300+ shirts for the seniors. The front design featured a cougar and a cool graphic

while the back contained the entire senior class overlaid on a cougar’s paw.

Later in the year, I made shooter shirts for the lacrosse team:

Signature Tees!

Signature tees are great for graduates, class trips, sports teams, and more!   I have over 50 different template that  can be customized — in terms of colors, words, and clip art.  Pick the one you want and I will deliver the template with a Sharpie.  Get all your students, etc to sign the template.  When done, I will pick it up and convert it into a unique and memorable tee!

Kinda like this…

Malcolm Mustangs

Thank you to the Malcolm Elementary Mustangs for their recent business! They asked me to make them some custom tees for MESA, the Math Team, the Class of 2016, and for their Destination Imagination team.

First, I made this custom tee for the Math Team, using gold Goof Proof designs from Transfer Express, that I pressed onto navy short-sleeve tees from SanMar:

(Even More) Proof That Teachers ROCK

Thank you, teachers, for all of your hard work and dedication!

(from The Washington Post)

Employees of the Chester Upland School District in Pennsylvania will show up for work on the first day of school next Wednesday, but they don’t expect to get paid.

The district, which has been struggling with financial and academic problems for decades, is on the edge of insolvency and cannot make payroll, state and local officials have said.

So on Thursday, about 200 members of the local teachers union voted unanimously to work without pay as the new school year opens. They were joined by secretaries, school bus drivers, janitors and administrators.
